The strategy “Women moving forward towards Wellbeing” is a joint effort of the different secretariats and agencies of the Government of Jalisco to improve the population’s conditions with cross-cutting actions. It aims to empower women affected by food insecurity or violence, teaching them skills and abilities that turn them into agents of change, drivers of their own development. This empowerment is achieved through training in self-managed processes of nutrition, production, occupation, health and employment, from a gender perspective, providing recognition and encouraging participation. It is led by 3 agencies of the State of Jalisco: Sistema DIF Jalisco, decentralised public agency in charge of public welfare assistance and the development of vulnerable families; the Development and Social

Integration Secretariat, in charge of generating action to provide opportunities for the population to achieve a more humane and integral personal and social development; and lastly, the Instituto Jalisciense de las Mujeres (Jalisco Women’s Institute), in charge of promoting, elaborating and executing public policies in favour of women, taking into account all issues, like gender violence and poverty. After the project’s implementation, more than 35,000 women are under comprehensive monitoring, thus reducing overlapping as they are included in a single list of beneficiaries. 8% this beneficiaries have increased the level of food insecurity, either because they have started producing, they have increased their income or they have changed their eating habits.
