The collaboration agreement with ILO is underway

ORU Fogar’s members have the opportunity to benefit from the decent work projects launched with the International Labour Organisation

Last October, ORU Fogar’s President, Abdessamad Sekkal signed in Quito, within the framework of Habitat III, a collaboration agreement with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to promote decent work projects in our organisation’s member regions. After the signing, ORU’s Secretariat General has been in communication with ILO’s Partnership and External Programs Field Support Department to determine the contents of the agreement and its deployment in ORU Fogar’s member territories.

For ILO, the regions and intermediate governments play a crucial role in job creation and in the defence of labour rights. This is why it is convinced that ORU Fogar can contribute greatly to the deployment of a key strategy for development in the following years: the localisation of the Decent Work Agenda (DWA). This agenda promotes decent work by fighting against youth unemployment, child labour, gender inequality in the workplace and inadequate social protection. For its implementation, ILO promotes programs for the promotion of labour rights, the creation of employment, social care and social dialogue for employment.

How to benefit from the agreement?

ORU Fogar invites all of its member regions to take part in this initiative aimed at promoting decent work at a territorial level. The regions interested in benefiting from the opportunities offered by this agreement must contact ORU Fogar's secretariat to submit a mildly defined project within the framework of the Decent Work Agenda. ORU Fogar and ILO will agree on the process materialisation. ILO's continental offices will give advice and support during the process implementation, even in a potential search for funds.
