New platform for localizing the SDGs

The Global Taskforce, UNDP and ONU-Habitat have created a virtual platform offering tools to implement the 2030 Agenda

One year after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), its implementation by the local and regional governments is fully underway. In order to support them in this complex task, the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments (GTF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) have launched the virtual platform www.LocalizingTheSDGs.org.

The platform, offered as a pioneering knowledge and information sharing space, provides the local and regional governments with concrete tools and practices for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs. The resources it offers are divided around three main categories, taking users from the point of initializing the SDG localization process, setting up enabling institutional frameworks and finishing with resources to support capacities' strengthening.

In addition, users can also upload and share their experiences, as well as engage in real-time discussions with all participating partners. The platform is, therefore, an interactive and animated service that is bound to grow and evolve with the direct contribution of all stakeholders, helping to show the crucial role of local and regional governments in the implementation of the SDGs.

ORU Fogar invites all its members and all regional governments to check www.LocalizingTheSDGs.org and use the tools it offers, but also to share their experiences and knowledge in order to advance collectively in the achievement of Sustainable Development in the territories.
