In the framework of the 41st period of sessions of the Committee on World Food Security (CSA41, for its acronym in Spanish), which took place at FAO Headquarters, Rome from October the 13th to the 18th 2014, the core group of food security held several ORU FOGAR meetings.
The scientific committee of the core group led by the Champagne-Ardennes region, the general coordinator ORU, Anna Fernández, experts Nicolas Bricas, Philippe Godin, Maddly Legilaive, Géraldine Tardivel, Valérie Nicolas, Julien Frayssignes, Hélène Hollard, Kanga Kouami and Lorena Escobar, agreed to work with the FAO to operationalize the commitment and share best practices and methodologies.
Claude Poulet, president of the core group of food scurity, attended the side event “City region food systems: sustainable Food Systems and Urbanization”, which was organized by the FAO and the International Sustainability Unit, with the purpose of highlighting the important role of the regions in the integrated approach of rural and urban development and the new road to higher sustainability of our food system that City Region Food System FAO drives.
The core group of food security agreed to monitor the agenda of the FAO in 2015, particulary the EXPO Milan and COP 21. It also proposed the organization of a workshop within the next Executive Bureau of ORU FOGAR to be held in early February 2015 in Burkina Faso.
