New Regional Best Practices Database

ORU Fogar presents a new portal of Best Practices implemented by public agencies of regional governments

In 2016 ORU Fogar launched, together with the United Nations Program for Development (UNDP), the I Regional Best Practices Award to reward the best projects implemented by regional public agencies. Just after closing the call for submissions of the second edition, the organisation has launched the Regional Best Practices Database, a platform gathering the winning projects to ensure their maximum projection and international recognition, as well as facilitating their replicability.

The Database aims at promoting efficient innovation and management at the regional governments’ public agencies from all over the world, and turning them into examples for other governments. It will collect and disseminate a variety of successful stories in the public sector, providing a space for online collaboration and to share experiences and co-create good government practices.

The first components of the platform are the five winners of the I Award, rewarded at the VII World Summit of Regional Governments held in Rio de Janeiro. They were implemented by the governments of the Basque Country (Spain), Colonia (Uruguay), Jalisco (Mexico) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and they relate to the fields of education, gender equality and the rural world, the fight against poverty and citizen participation.

It will soon incorporate the winners of this second edition, currently being assessed and selected by a jury with a well-known trajectory, made up of renowned professionals from the academic, entrepreneurial, cultural and public administration world. The award ceremony will be held at ORU Fogar’s next General Assembly, which will take place in the Basque Country, on the 27th and 28th November 2017.

The database’s good regional practices can be checked out at ORU Fogar’s website
