After the forced suspension of the Bureau and the Assembly of December 1 in Santiago, Chile, ORU Fogar will hold mandatory meetings through the network, applying article 14 of the Organization Statutes, an article that provides for meetings through videoconferencing and Other technological means. Thus, on December 10, a videoconference will be held with all the members of the Bureau connected, in which they will take the unappealable decisions in the dynamics of the organization, from the approval of the 2020 budget, until the decision where will be the headquarters of bureaus and assemblies next year.
All these agreements must be ratified, through the network, by the members of the organization, in a dynamic that will remain open from December 12 to 19. This call, complying with the inescapable statutory imperative to renew the presidency and the board, must approve the nominations submitted for these positions. But you should also see the agenda for the year 2020, evaluate the agreement with the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, set the framework with the Responsible Tourism Institute, assess participation in the V Local Economic Development Forum of Córdoba and determine a framework for collaboration with the Committee of the Regions of Europe.
For the first meeting of the Bureau of 2020 that, if the agreements adopted in previous bureaus are ratified, will be held in Açores (Portugal), there will be the great debate that had been raised for Santiago. Thus, the next meeting will be the time to discuss the future of the organization and see how it faces the new decade. When five years of the approval of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals are to be completed, and when there are ten left for the purpose of its achievement, it is important to guide the role of the regions in this decisive decade. This means opening the debate for the realization of a Strategic Plan of the organization for the period 2020-2030. With a consolidated structure, with permanent communication, with a good implementation, with presence in all global debates, ORU Fogar faces how to influence the global agenda more decisively and how to be more useful to its partners.
Meanwhile, the president of ORU Fogar, Abdessamad Sekkal, has sent a letter to Marcelo Carrasco, president of the Association of Regional Counselors of Chile (ANCORE), in which, beyond thanking him for his will to defend the celebration of the assembly in his country until the last hour, ratifies the commitment of the organization to the regional councilors of Chile and its fight for decentralization.
