The VI LED Forum will be held in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra

The VI World Forum on Local Economic Development will be held in Rabat in the last quarter of 2023. It will be organised by the Rabat Salé Kénitra Regional Council with the support of the city of Rabat and the Moroccan government. After the forum in Córdoba (Argentina), which had to be postponed several times due to the pandemic and was finally held in a hybrid format, the forum VI is planned as a large space where the local and regional authorities of the world will meet once again in person for a meeting that will promote contact with the global agenda and the United Nations agencies.

Since its first edition in Seville (Spain), the Forum has been organised and promoted by five actors: FAMSI, UNDP, ILO, UCLG and ORU Fogar. In this way, local and regional governments have created a global platform where governments, trade union and business leaders, international organisations, civil society and academia come together to discuss critical issues and find answers to the question of how to promote a development programme for the entire territory.

After Seville, the forum was held in Foz de Iguazú (Brazil), in Turin (Italy), in Cape Verde and finally last year in Cordoba. The latter was entitled "Transition to a sustainable future: the role of territories in times of uncertainty" and was sponsored by the Municipality and the Province of Cordoba. During the five days of the Forum, 35 sessions were held with 58 hours of live coverage, with 216 speakers from 46 countries (35 ORU Fogar members participated in panels and plenary sessions). A delegation from the Forum's International Committee is going to travel to Rabat on September 2022. At this meeting, in addition to logistical and organizational issues, the best date to hold the Forum as well as the topics to be addressed, should be discussed.
