Call for the 11th Regional Best Practices Award

ORU Fogar and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have announced the opening of applications for the 11th Regional Best Practices Award. This distinction, which has established itself as the global benchmark for showcasing efficiency in territorial public management, seeks to identify and reward policies that have generated a positive impact in their territories.

The challenge of surpassing a record-breaking year

This eleventh edition comes at a time of great dynamism for the organization. Last year, during the tenth award ceremony, a historic participation record was reached, demonstrating the growing interest of intermediate governments in sharing innovative solutions to global challenges such as climate change, digitalization, and social cohesion.

It is worth recalling that, in the previous edition, Ecuador was the main protagonist, winning the majority of the awards. Ecuadorian prefectures stood out for their technical capacity and commitment to sustainable development, achieving international recognition for several of their projects. That success not only highlighted the regional governance of the Andean country but also raised the quality standard of the proposals submitted, setting the bar very high for the current call.

A platform for regional excellence

The 11th Regional Best Practices Award is not merely an honorary recognition; it functions as a knowledge bank that allows regions around the world to replicate successful models. The objective is to continue building a network of strong regional governments capable of learning from one another to improve the lives of their citizens.

Regions interested in participating may submit projects that demonstrate tangible results, financial and social sustainability, and a clear commitment to innovation. An international jury composed of renowned experts, academics, and representatives of multilateral organizations will be responsible for evaluating the proposals.

Open call

ORU Fogar invites all regional governments, departments, and provinces to submit their applications through its official portal. Following the record participation of the previous edition, this year is expected to see further growth in both geographic diversity and the technical quality of the projects, consolidating the award as a benchmark in regional public governance.
