AEBR held two seminars in Ecuador and Bolivia

Seminario de ARFE sobre descentralización y cooperación transfronteriza

The workshops addressed the issues of decentralisation and cross-border cooperation

The Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) co-organised in June, together with the Andine Community, two seminars that have brought together subnational authorities from Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia. The first meeting took place in La Paz on the 22nd and 23rd June, under the workshop format and geared towards learning and reflecting on models of cross-border cooperation between local authorities and the civil society in the Peru-Bolivia border.

The second seminar was held on the 28th and 29th June in Tulcán, Ecuador. The meeting, entitled “Decentralisation and innovation: Public policies for smart specialisation in the Ecuador-Colombia border integration zone”, gathered experts from the Andine Community, the Technical Secretariat for International Cooperation of Ecuador, the Prefecture of Carchi (Ecuador) and the Association of European Border Regions. Also, this last event was completed with different activities such as training sessions for local authorities given by the Association, a forum for the transfer of knowledge between Spanish authorities and the Prefecture of Carchi and a few meetings with local and provincial authorities.
