Everything set for the Bureau meeting in Rabat

The members of ORU Fogar’s Executive Bureau will meet in Rabat, Morocco, on the 24th and 25th of April 2017

 

The United Regions Organisation will travel to Rabat, Morocco, on the 24th and 25th of April 2017 to hold its next Executive Bureau meeting. It will be the first under the Presidency of Abdessamad Sekkal, elected President in October 2016. Sekkal, who is the President of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region will act as host of the meeting. 

The gathering will take place at the Regional Council’s headquarters, in Place Al Joulane. Besides the internal affairs, the agenda of the meeting also includes issues such as ORU Fogar’s 10th Anniversary, to be celebrated throughout 2017, the holding of the next General Assembly in October this year, and ORU Fogar’s new status as International Organisation. A review of the Articles of Association will be carried out, including a recognition to the former Presidents as Honorary Presidents and Goodwill Ambassadors of ORU Fogar.  

Work Sessions

After the Bureau meeting, two Work Sessions intended to broaden some of the projects in which ORU Fogar is involved will take place. The first one, on Monday 24th, includes a session on the New Urban Agenda given by Ana B. Moreno, UN Habitat III Secretariat Coordinator; another one on the Collaboration Agreement concluded with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) given by Anita Amorim, Head of the Emerging and Special Partnership Unit at ILO; and the presentation by the Catalan Government of two initiatives: ethe Implementation Project of RIS3 strategies in Latin America (within the framework of the 2030 Agenda Work Group of ORU Fogar) and the implementation of the European Commission instrument TAIEX

The second work session, on the 25th of April, will start with the presentation of R20’s “100 Climate Solutions Project Campaign”, given by its Secretary General Christophe Nuttall; and it will continue with a lecture by the Director General for Cooperation and Solidarity at the Government of Valencia, Federico Buyolo, on the implementation of SDG’s by the Valencian Government. The meeting will end with a second meeting with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Chinese Friendship Foundation for Peace Development (CFFPD), with whom ORU is working on a possible collaboration.
