Medical assistance programme for unpaid housewives

One of the prizes of the tenth edition has fallen upon the medical assistance program for unpaid housewives, organised by the government of the province of Pichincha, Ecuador. The project consists of the implementation of the program to guarantee the access to health services for housewives, sometimes invisibles and left out from medical coverage. Among the services offered are general medical consultations, gynaecological consultations, laboratory tests and mammograms, essential services for basic women's healthcare. This project has obtained the fifth place due to several reasons, among which, the visibility that it has given to the community and the capacity of breaking barriers to essential services’ access.
