nrg4SD and ORU will assess regional implementation of the 2030 Agenda

The associated regional networks launch a campaign to reflect the regional experience in the Voluntary National Reviews at the High Livel Political Forum

The United Nations will hold the  High Level Political Forum ( HLPF), la platform for the follow up and review of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs in the member states, from the 10th to the 19th of July at its headquarters in New York, United States.  The theme of this year’s HLPF is "Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world" and will focus on the revision of the Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 3, 5, 9 and 14 –related to poverty, hunger, health, resilient infrastructures and durability–.

Also, the 44 members States that have carried out Voluntary National Reviews (VNR) will present the reports on their efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda. These revisions aim to facilitate the exchange of experiences and achievements made, as well as to provide the opportunity to discuss and create common strategies among governments. In this regard, ORU and nrg4SD launched a campaign to gather the experiences of its member regions –belonging to a voluntary country– in relation to the VNR, in order to gain understanding of their perception and of the level of inclusion of the regional level in the national processes. 

The regional governments in the 2030 Agenda

The results of the campaign will be presented in an assessment report at the HLPF, in a side event requested by nrg4SD and ORU Fogar untitled “Regional Governments in the 2030 Agenda – from implementation to national review of the SDGs” (to be confirmed)  . The space will be devoted to guiding regional governments on how to contribute and what role to play in the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda, as well as to discuss how the United Nations and the member States can contribute to better performance in achieving the SDGs at a subnational level.  

ORU Fogar calls its member regions of the VNR countries to voluntarily share their experiences, by replying to the questionnaire provided to this effect, before the 7th of July.
