VI Regional Best Practice Award

During the course of the month of January was convened, as it has become a tradition, the VI Regional Best Practices Award that brings together, each year, the ORU Fogar with the United Nations Development Programme Art (UNDP Art). This award, whose first call for applications dates from 2016, is a competition to reward the best projects implemented by regional public administrations.

With this award, ORU Fogar and UNDP wish to highlight an activity or process of an administration that has produced exceptional results in public management and that can be replicated in other regions to improve its effectiveness, efficiency and innovation for the benefit of the public good. Thus, the objective is to identify and, above all, make visible the good practices of regional governments worldwide, as well as to position the concept of good public management practices as an effective tool of regional governments.

In the five previous editions, prizes have been awarded to projects in all geographical areas and in all fields: education, gender equality, rural development, fight against poverty, citizen participation, etc. Always with the sustainable development objectives of Agenda 2030 in mind.

Once the five winners of each edition are known, the rewarded projects are immediately added to the ORU Fogar Database of Regional Best Practices, a platform that brings together all the winning projects to ensure their maximum projection, international recognition and replication.

With this Database of Best Practices, ORU-Fogar aims to promote innovation and successful management of public administrations of regional governments around the world, in order to make them examples for other governments. As such, it collects and disseminates public sector success stories, providing an online collaboration space where experiences can be shared and good government practices co-created.
