The VI World Forum on Local Economic Development focuses on the financing of local and regional governments
The VI World Forum on Local Economic Development, which will take place from April 1 to 4, 2025, in Seville, will center its attention on the financing of local and regional governments, one of the three main pillars of this edition. Convened by the UNDP, the International Labour Organization (ILO), UCLG, ORU Fogar, and the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI), the event is supported by the Seville City Council, the Seville Provincial Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, and Spanish cooperation. The other two pillars of the program are: “The triple transition, decent work, and social justice” and “Caring local economies: instruments, policies, infrastructure, services, and people for territorial cohesion and balance.”

Barcelona donates two buses to ORU Fogar to be sent to Senegal
The Barcelona Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMT), in collaboration with ORU Fogar, has formalized the donation of three buses intended for school transportation in the Department of Dagana, Senegal. This initiative seeks to improve access to education and promote the continuity of children within the school system.

Call for Applications: 10th Award for Best Regional Practices
The United Regions Organization (ORU Fogar) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announce the launch of the 10th edition of the Award for Best Regional Practices, marking ten consecutive years dedicated to recognizing and promoting the most innovative initiatives in regional public management. This award aims to identify and disseminate practices that generate a positive impact on citizens and can be replicated in other contexts. The deadline for submitting applications is May 31, 2025.
