The 2026 Assembly will address tourism as a driver of regional development

The 2026 ORU Fogar Annual Assembly will be held in Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador, from the 2nd to the 4th of July. The Assembly will focus entirely on toyrism as an economic factor. Hosted by the Provincial Government of Azuay, the Assembly will include a Forum entitled “Tourism and Regional Economic Development”, bringing together experts from around the world and a broad representation of regional governments from different continents...

ORU Fogar Seminar on Rural Development in Romania.

ORU Fogar will travel to Romania to convene a meeting of its Executive Bureau, in partnership with the Argeș County Council. This meeting, to be held in Pitești on the 20th of April 2026, will provide the framework for the International Seminar entitled “Comparative Rural Development Policies”, during which regional decision-makers from several continents will engage in dialogue on strategies aimed at strengthening non-urban territories...

"With two buses donated by the Barcelona City Council after being taken out of service in the Catalan capital, a pilot school transport project seeks to improve access to education in rural areas of northern Senegal. Promoted by ORU Fogar, the initiative aims to reduce absenteeism and school dropout rates by addressing the long walking distances and insecurity that thousands of students face every day. Once all the planned buses are fully operational, the project will connect 87 villages, easing the journey to the classroom for more than 6,000 students in the Department of Dagana..."
